Members of all ages enjoy Groovin' Through the Decades at Tom Taylor Family Y

August brings with it the promise of more warm days and more ways to connect at the Y. Choose between celebration events taking place across our centers, one of our upcoming Summer Series events, volunteer for the upcoming fall season, or take advantage of YMCA360 from the comfort of home. Remember, the majority of our summer series events are free and open to the community (unless stated otherwise).

Set time aside on our calendar for Saturday, August 26, to channel your inner Wim Hof and take The Plunge into the South Sound with us at Owen Beach!

Yin and Yoga Nidra

Ages: 8+, youth under 12 must be with an adult

Yin and Yoga Nidra involves slowing down and relaxing our bodies. It consists of stretching postures that are held for long periods of time, up to 4 minutes. The long, passive holds activate the parasympathetic nervous system (our rest and digest system), and work to soften and stretch our deepest layers of tissue, the fascia. It's a wonderful break from any fast-paced lifestyle. Bring your mat and come prepared to enjoy the restorative process of this special outdoor class.

TRX Suspension Training

When: August 17 | 7-8pm

Location: Tom Taylor Family Y

Ages: 8+

TRX is a form of suspension training that uses body weight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously. Developed by Randy Hetrick, a Navy Seal squadron commander, TRX is used by the military, pro athletes, and now you. By using your own body weight as resistance, you’re able to target key muscle groups, especially in the back, and feel a serious burn in as little as 15 minutes. Spend an hour with Melissa and discover why TRX is so popular.
