When Spencer isn't at Shasta Junior College pursuing an education in Kinesiology and playing football, you can find him working and playing basketball at the Y. Growing up in a single parent household, Spencer's mother wanted his brother and him to have opportunities to grow and maintain a healthy lifestyle - they found this at the Y.
Spencer watched players he looked up to at the Y and their encouragement of his game left him inspired to work hard at becoming a great player. "It's a wonderful feeling when you have the opportunity to work with someone who had much inspiration on you growing up," he said.
Now, with a few scholarships to transfer and play football at a university, Spencer is glad he has the Y to come home to - for inspiration, encouragement, and to keep up his hard work.
