A Facebook post about the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program changed Laura's life. After joining the program, Laura reduced her weight by 13 percent in just five months and decreased her BMI (body mass index). With more goals in her future, Laura now has the supportive environment to reach success.
"The program provided me with the motivation, skills and peer support that I needed to learn how to have a more balanced lifestyle," said Laura.
By the program's design of encouraging habit change slowly, participants like Laura are able to apply the skills they learned to their lives and see them work. Laura says she found, "a new normal" which is making her a healthier person.
