As a long time Tacoma Center Y member, David Young says the Y has "been the biggest blessing in his life for more reasons than just the recumbent bike." When David first joined nearly ten years ago, he says his life looked completely different.
"I was timid and lonely, but the Y brings out the best in me now and now I have some great friends," says David. David credits Kaila Mann, Health and Well-being Director at Tacoma Center Y as a dynamic support person to his success. "Kaila would always tell me to start small and keep trying," he says with a smile on his face. "I am very grateful for her friendship and support."
The lifelong kinds of friends he has developed are the reasons he comes back and continues to support the mission of the Y. "David is the guy everyone loves and wants to be around," explains Kaila. "I am so proud of his progress and truly believe he can do anything he sets his mind to!"
"I get good exercise," David said. "I make friends and I have fun - what else is there to want?"
