Darius U.

Bremerton Family YMCA

It all started with a 5k run/walk. Darius set a goal of completing the event without walking. In his search for a training routine, his wife suggested that he try cross-training. This simple piece of advice led Darius to the class that would change his life: R.I.P.P.E.D.

Not only has R.I.P.P.E.D. helped to transform him, but it has also impacted his family by modeling healthy habits for his children. Darius said, "Our kids see us working out and being healthy and happy. It becomes a normal thing for them."

In the first five months of R.I.P.P.E.D., Darius has lost 34 pounds, averaging close to two pounds per week while still building muscle. He credits much of his success to his R.I.P.P.E.D. instructor, Camille. He states that she welcomed and introduced him to the class on his first day and invited him to return at the end of that class.

"I like the sense of community," Darius says. "The best part of the class is that you get overall fitness with cardio, strength, and endurance."

For Darius, the most important part of his class is the sense of community. "I don't feel like just another face in the crowd," said Darius.
