Gordon Family YMCA

As a class instructor, Annie is always dancing front and center. You would never have known that she was nervous the first time she stepped into a dance studio. Having joined the Y solely for her kids' swimming lessons, she decided one day to take advantage of the Y programming and try a class out.

"I just stood in the back of the class, really frustrated with my two left feet," Annie said, laughing. However, after coming back week after week, she found herself moving closer and closer to the front. Eventually, her instructor asked if she could volunteer to teach the class herself. Since then, she has gone from volunteer to class ambassador to a member of the Y staff. "It's been an awesome growing experience," she says.

Today, Annie is dedicated to forging the relationships that kept her coming back to her class each week. "Friendships have really been built amongst community members," she said. If you can, check out Annie's class!
