Visual Arts

In Visual Arts classes, students are introduced to the principles of art through a variety of mediums that encourage creativity and inspire imaginations. Using traditional and modern artistic tools, from pencils and paintbrushes to computer software, students learn the techniques necessary to translate their original ideas into works of art.

Beginner Painting Registration Required



Beginning students will learn painting techniques and increase their creativity with the use of water color and acrylic paints.

Ceramics Registration Required



Students will learn the basics of creating in three-dimensions with clay. Participants will explore techniques including pinch pot, coil and slab building, the use of modeling tools, surface texture, and glazing.

Drawing Registration Required



Drawing 1 students learn basic drawing techniques using pencil, pastels and other media. Learn and improve skills through fun drawing projects and games. Drawing 2 classes are meant for those students who have already honed their interests and have some prior drawing experience. Drawing 2 students will advance their drawing techniques and concepts of color and composition as they tackle more challenging projects. We recommend taking Drawing 1 prior to taking Drawing 2.

Drop-In Art Drop-in Class



We offer a variety of free arts drop-in classes for you to explore your creativity and learn more about our program offerings. This is a great time to try out new classes and get to know our talented arts instructors. Drop-in activities are quick hits that take between 10-20 minutes to create. Members 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Projects are optimized for ages 5+, but our instructors will work to create adaptations to reach all ages.

Mixed Media Art Registration Required



Classes include Hand Sewing, Sewing Basics, Fashion Design, Jewelry Making, and Set Design among others. Hand Sewing teaches students a variety of stitches and techniques. We recommend taking this course prior to taking Sewing Basics. Sewing Basics students will learn simple machine operation, introductory sewing techniques, and necessary tools and terminology. Fashion Design allows young designers to learn about various categories of fashion through a range of drawing, sewing, and mixed media projects. Jewelry Making is a fun and creative class that teaches students to make wearable art. Set Design students will learn the basics of designing and fabricating props, scenic designs, and stage elements for our theater and dance programs to use in performances.

Painting Registration Required



Painting 1 classes are introductory classes that explore several paint mediums, ranging from watercolor to acrylic, over the course of one session. Painting 2 classes are for those students who have honed their interests and have some prior painting experience.

Painting 2 classes take a deeper into a specific medium, subject matter, or technique. We recommend taking Painting 1 prior to taking Painting 2.
