The CIT program provides leadership camp experiences for teens 13 to 17. Participants will be assigned to Day Camp Groups for a week, working alongside college age Counselors with kids’ ages 3 to 12. Participants will work and create friendships with teens from other schools; learn from college age counselors; gain community service hours for school and/or college applications; gain invaluable skills working with kids and learn how to be successful in a workplace.
A two week (does not have to be consecutive) commitment is required in addition to the training requirements.
Participant must be able to commit to Monday through Friday for each registered week.

STEP 2
TRAIN
The camp staff at your Y will connect with you regarding the pre-summer CIT Training.
Each CIT must complete training prior to starting two weeks for service.
Training dates will vary by YMCA Community Center.
STEP 3
SERVE
Once you have completed the pre-summer training, CITs will then identify the minimum two weeks
they would like to serve at camp. These weeks do not need to be consecutive.
Participant must be able to commit to Monday-Friday from 8:15am-4:30pm for each registered week. CITs may commit
to serving more than two weeks throughout the summer.
Those who commit to six weeks or more, at the discretion of the Camp Director,
will be asked to take a week off for rest and recuperation.

Gain valuable volunteer hours for school requirements or for college applications.

Receive 15+ hours of training from Y professionals.

80 hours of on-the-job training and mentorship from YMCA staff that could contribute to a staff position.

After completing two summers of the CIT program, individuals are eligible to apply for Summer Camp Counselor positions prior to graduating high school.
