The Y’s Dance Company is designed to inspire, challenge, and empower young dancers through technical training, artistic exploration, and meaningful community connection. We are a performance-based company dedicated to sharing our passion and talent with audiences across the Pacific Northwest.
Performing for the Community
Dancers proudly share their love of movement with the community throughout the year. As a performance-based program, company members represent the Y and our community at events throughout the Pacific Northwest, celebrating dance as a universal language that brings people together.
Dance Company Sessions
Auditions are held annually and are open to all students 8 years and older and at level Beginner 2 and up. Company members are expected to attend regular classes, rehearsals, and performances. We offer four levels, ensuring each dancer is supported at each stage:
Pre-Company (Ages 8-12)
A joyful introduction to company life focused on developing foundational skills, musicality, and collaboration. Weekly commitment: 2 classes plus rehearsals.
Junior Company (Ages 10–14)
Dancers build strength, confidence, and versatility through expanded class offerings and more complex choreography. Weekly commitment: 3 classes plus rehearsals.
Apprentice Company (Ages 12–16)
A bridge between Junior and Senior, this group deepens artistry, commitment, and leadership for advanced training. Weekly commitment: 6 classes plus rehearsals.
Senior Company (Ages 14–18)
Our most experienced dancers take on challenging choreography, mentor younger members, and serve as ambassadors. Weekly commitment: 6 classes plus rehearsals.
