Now in its third year, 100 Miles for Kids began with one runner and a big idea. Shane Arcadia first took on the challenge of running 100 miles across the association to create something that could bring people together in support of youth. Today, the event continues to grow, with runners, staff, donors, and community members showing up at every step.

This year’s route began in Silverdale and traveled to every community center and camp location across Pierce and Kitsap Counties before ending in Sumner.

Funds raised through the run will support programs like Counselors in Training and Teen Late Nite, helping young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and stay connected to positive opportunities in their communities.

For Shane, the nearly $30,000 raised reflects the powerful impact this event can have in bringing the Y together and supporting meaningful opportunities for teens.

“That really symbolizes why we do this event in the first place,” he said.

Thank you to everyone who ran, donated, cheered, volunteered, and helped make this year’s 100 Mile Run for Kids possible. Nearly $30,000 has been raised in support of teen leadership and youth programs across Pierce and Kitsap Counties. Donations are still being accepted to help maximize the impact of 100 Miles for Kids.
