Take On the Stadium Bowl Stairs at Unleashed

This August, participants from across the community will gather at one of Tacoma’s most iconic landmarks for Unleashed at Stadium Bowl, a race built around grit, connection, and the challenge of doing something difficult together.

Unleashed racers on the stairs

The Y is a proud sponsor of this event, which invites participants to take on the Stadium stairs in a course that is physically demanding, memorable, and uniquely Tacoma. Racers can choose a one-lap course with 1,628 total steps or take on the two-lap challenge with 3,256 steps. Whether racers are competing for time, walking with friends, or simply trying to finish, the experience is designed to bring people together through shared effort.

On the stairs, racers of different ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels take on the same course. Each person brings their own reason for showing up, but everyone shares the same goal: keep moving forward.

The event also features a Heroes Race, an elite three-person team competition featuring firefighters, law enforcement, and military teams. Participants in the Heroes Race take on the Stadium Bowl while wearing weighted vests, giving the community a chance to cheer on local service members and first responders as they complete a demanding challenge.

Proceeds from Unleashed at Stadium Bowl benefit Kindred Souls Foundation, which provides sanctuary and care to abandoned, abused, and neglected cats and dogs.
