The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties was the proud sponsor of Fit for Sound to Narrows, helping hundreds of local students prepare for and participate in one of Tacoma's most beloved running traditions. On race day, students from across the region joined teachers, families, volunteers, and community members at Sound to Narrows, a true celebration of health, perseverance, and community.
For weeks leading up to race day, students participated in running clubs at their schools, building endurance and confidence one step at a time. At every practice, they learned lessons about commitment and the importance of staying active. By the time they arrived at the starting line, they had already achieved something remarkable.
As students crossed the finish line, they were met with cheers, high-fives, and a tremendous sense of accomplishment. For many, it was their first organized race. For others, it was another milestone in a growing journey toward lifelong wellness. Regardless of their finish time, every participant had something to celebrate.
We're grateful for our partnership with MultiCare, whose commitment to community wellness helps make Sound to Narrows possible. Together, we share a vision of creating a healthier community where every child has the opportunity to develop healthy habits.
Events like Sound to Narrows remind us that healthy communities are built when organizations, schools, families, and community partners come together around a shared purpose. The YMCA is honored to be part of that effort and proud to support young people as they take steps toward a healthier future. We can't wait to do it again next year.
