The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is excited to welcome Jean-Luc Pedanou as the next Executive Director at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA.
Jean-Luc brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across the fitness, wellness, and hospitality industries. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong teams, creating welcoming environments, and helping people feel connected to their communities.
"What drew me to the YMCA was the opportunity to combine everything I’ve learned throughout my career with an organization whose impact extends far beyond the walls of the facility,” Jean-Luc said. "I hope people continue to see the Tom Taylor Family YMCA as the heart of the community... A welcoming place where lifelong friendships are formed, families are supported, and people feel a genuine sense of belonging. If, several years from now, even more people throughout Gig Harbor and the surrounding communities feel that the Y is an important part of their lives, I would consider that a tremendous success."
Jean-Luc’s passion for health and wellness began when he first joined a fitness club at age 17. What started as a personal interest grew into a career dedicated to helping people improve their health, confidence, and quality of life. Over the years, that passion grew into leadership positions with organizations including Equinox, Bay Club, and Olympic Athletic Club. His roles focused on developing teams, strengthening operations, and creating positive experiences for members.
Originally from New York City, Jean-Luc has spent much of his career on the West Coast and is excited to become part of the Gig Harbor community.
"I’ve come to appreciate places where people feel genuinely connected to one another. Gig Harbor has a strong sense of community, a beautiful natural setting, and a spirit that feels welcoming and authentic," Jean-Luc said. "I’ve already experienced that through the people I’ve met at the Y, and I’m looking forward to building relationships and becoming an active part of the community for years to come."
Outside of work, Jean-Luc enjoys staying active, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and discovering local arts and culture.
