On April 28, community members gathered for the 31st Annual Community Summit in Sumner and Bonney Lake, an evening centered on connection, collaboration, and community impact.
Among those recognized as an Unsung Hero was Stefani Montague of the Gordon Family YMCA, known to many as “Mama Stef.”
The name fits. Stefani is known for taking care of everyone who walks through the doors. At the Y, she leads a thriving EnhanceFitness community of more than 80 seniors, creating a space where they can stay active, build relationships, and feel supported.
Her impact extends beyond the group exercise floor. Stefani connects students experiencing homelessness, families, and older adults to the resources and relationships they need, making sure people aren’t navigating challenges alone.
When one member came to the Y recovering from open heart surgery, Stefani gifted him a three month membership, giving him a place to rebuild his strength, get back on his feet, and move forward with his life.
Her recognition at the Community Summit reflects the impact she’s had on people everyday in her community.
