thank you

To YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties Staff,

It’s a true privilege to serve on the board for the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties. As board members, we’re more than just policymakers – we’re also active members of this Y, each of us finding spirit, mind, and body at the community centers. Every time we walk through Y doors, we’re reminded of your continued dedication and support to our association. Thank you for all YOU have done. We’re so proud of you all. We’d also like to extend our appreciation to Charlie Davis in his role as CEO and President, as well as the rest of the leadership team. They have our continued support and we look forward to serving alongside them in the coming years.

We are well aware of the challenges and obstacles everyone has faced over the past two years. You have carried our Y through the most difficult period of our lifetime and we are in genuine awe of the commitment each of you continues to make on behalf of our association. We want to be clear: the Y has made it through the past two years because of you.

The new year has started with its own unique set of challenges, from staffing shortages and the unexpected Kronos outage to the new Omicron COVID variant. Together, we’ll make it through these challenges, too.

It hasn’t been all doom and gloom, though. There is a lot to be excited about, thanks to the forward-looking vision of our leadership team and their willingness to think outside of the box. Some of the things we’re especially excited about:

  • Virtual innovations and YMCA360
  • Early Learning Centers
  • Strengthened partnerships with school districts
  • Expanded outdoor fitness

The past two years have seen many beloved faces leave key roles in our association. While we’re happy for and supportive of those former staff members, the introduction of new leaders in Human Resources and Marketing brings about new possibilities of growth and innovation for the Y. The changes in the reporting structure of the operations team, along with new executive directors, have us all eagerly looking forward. A fresh set of eyes and a new perspective can do wonders for us all.

We can’t overstate how valued you are by the board. Thank you for everything that you do. Our Y lives on because of you.
