Denise Landis

We are excited to share with you the selection of our new Bremerton Family Y Executive Director: Denise Landis. She will be serving the Y in her new role starting June 16, 2022.

For over 12 years, Denise has been serving with the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties. Most recently, she has served as the Senior Membership Director at the Morgan Family YMCA. Denise started with the YMCA over 32 years ago as a volunteer for the Adaptive Aquatics program at the Morgan Family Y. What she thought would be something to do while filling time between college classes, suddenly became so much more. She has worked in six different associations and has held a variety of different positions.

While every Y offered its own unique flair, at the root of everything was the community (staff and members) it served. The community influenced the decisions being made, programs being offered, and the overall pulse or “feel” of the Y.

Denise attended Western Washington University. She majored in Therapeutic Recreation and minored and Psychology. She currently resides in Tacoma, Washington, where she enjoys spending time with family and traveling. Denise is excited to serve the Bremerton community.

A Message from Denise

"The YMCA is where magic happens on a daily basis. Energy. Passion. Transformation. Belonging. COMMUNITY! It is a place where EVERYONE is welcomed! A place where people have the opportunity to explore and discover. The relationships that are built create an environment for everyone to thrive. I am so excited to be working alongside the Bremerton team as we continue to serve you, and the community!"

What's Next for Harold Shea

After serving as the Executive Director for the Bremerton Family Y since 2020 and 14+ years of dedicated service to the YMCA, Harold Shea has been promoted to an Association-wide leadership role and will now be serving as our Operations Director. His final day at the Bremerton Y will be June 17. In his new role, Harold will continue to contribute to the YMCA through his superb skillset where he will lead our Bremerton, Haselwood, and Tom Taylor centers, Camp Seymour, and Camp Lake Helena in addition to working with Advisory Councils across our association.

A Message from Harold

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve our Y association in a role where I can impact even more staff, volunteers, and members. I love that I will continue to be part of the Bremerton Family YMCA where I have had the pleasure of working for the last two years and the Haselwood Family Y for more than five years. I’m blessed to work at the Y. It’s where I smile, laugh, and encounter a myriad of opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Because of our staff, volunteers, and members, the YMCA is a very special place. We say the Y is much more than a swim and gym; there have never been truer words spoken. The Y is my home. It’s where my wife of 31 years worked teaching step aerobics in the 80s, where my two children have belonged and eventually worked for; and where so many friendships began.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our staff, volunteers, and members throughout Pierce & Kitsap Counties, and I know Denise and the team of staff and volunteers will strengthen our community and continue to be servant leaders who strive to make each experience better.”
