Big improvements are underway at the Gig Harbor Sports Fields near the Tom Taylor Family YMCA. Over the summer, fencing and light pole bases were installed, and this fall, light poles are being raised.
The need for this project is clear: last year, more than 9,000 youth played field sports in Gig Harbor, but because of limited field space, especially in the darker winter months, more than 2,000 players were unable to participate. Lighting the fields will help close that gap and ensure more young athletes can get in the game.
It's not too late for you to support the project. Donations of $250, $500, and $1,000 will receive a custom inscribed brick that will be installed at the entry plaza of the new fields.
