Lakewood, WA – April 8 – The 15th Annual Cops vs. Teachers charity basketball game event is gearing up for another thrilling evening of friendly competition and community support. Scheduled for Friday, April 26th, at 5:00 PM, the event will take place at Lakes High School and hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Clover Park.

The Cops vs. Teachers charity event, now in its fifteenth year, has become a cornerstone of the Lakewood community, bringing together local law enforcement, educators, families, and supporters for a common cause. This year, the Lakewood Family Y's foster care membership programs and Teen Late Nite initiative will be the main benefactor.

In 2009, Cops Vs. Teachers charity basketball game was organized after four Lakewood police officers and one Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy lost their lives while protecting the community. The event was held to honor these officers and support their families through donations, and it brought together schools and local communities.

The programs supported by this event play a crucial role in providing essential resources, mentorship, and support to youth in the community, particularly those in foster care or at risk of falling through the cracks. By participating in this event or supporting it through attendance, individuals can make a tangible difference in the lives of young people in need.

"At the core of the Cops vs. Teachers Charity Basketball Game and Silent Auction, we embody the values of community, compassion, and empowerment,” said Baron Coleman, the event's lead organizer.

“We are proud to support the Lakewood Family Y’s Teen Late Night Program and free memberships to you in the foster care systems, which aligns with our values of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Together, we raise funds to sustain these vital programs, honoring the legacy of our officers through unity and a shared sense of purpose."

Attendees can look forward to a lively evening filled with exciting competitions between law enforcement officers and educators, delicious food, entertainment, and the chance to connect with fellow community members. The event provides a unique opportunity for individuals from all backgrounds to come together to support a shared goal: creating brighter futures for the youth of Lakewood.
