University Y Student Center
As a self-described rambunctious, enthusiastic young child, Scott spent countless hours within the Y, where he found not only an outlet for his energy but a community of support and encouragement that instilled in him a passion for athletics. "Without the Y, I wouldn't have been as well-rounded as a person," he explains.
From swim team to competitive sports, there was always a healthy activity for Scott at the Y. "I was obsessed with rock climbing," he recalls. "I even got plugged into a YMCA basketball league that traveled to different branches each week. It was the best!"
His passion for athletics ultimately led Scott to pursue a degree in wellness from Waldorf College in Iowa. Upon graduating, his heart led him back to the Pacific Northwest where he hoped to pursue his passion for health and well-being.
"The Y is full of opportunities," he says. "Nowhere else can you see an eight-year-old playing basketball next to a 75-year-old senior and actually enjoying the same activity."
The Y offered Scott the lifelong support he didn't even know he needed. Scott considers himself blessed to be one of the kids that grew up strong within the walls of the YMCA.
