YMCA Camp Seymour
For Krystal and Mark Ripka, sending their children to YMCA Camp Seymour was a luxury they often couldn't afford. They were thrilled when they learned the Y had partnered with Camp Corral, an organization committed to providing camp experiences to children of wounded, disabled, or fallen military service members.
When her son Gavin, and daughter Julieanna came back from camp, Krystal noticed some big changes. Julieanna couldn't stop talking about how much fun she had at camp, and Gavin learned how to take care of himself and be more independent.
"They are more responsible and confident," said Krystal. "They don't have the safety blanket, which gives them the opportunity to grow and mature, and try new things."
Krystal also noticed that the leadership skills, independence, and confidence her children learned at camp stayed with them through the school year.
"Camp Corral is such a special experience," said Krystal. "We feel pretty blessed to be this close and to send our kids to camp."
