Marie first attended YMCA Camp Seymour as a Women's Wellness Weekend participant in 2011, and has attended every year since. Marie says that the weekend, "is the one time I have 'me' time - working on me and improving me."
A group of women from her church attend the weekend annually as well. "It's a time to slow down and reconnect with each other," Marie said. She adds that "it's very spiritual," and the beautiful setting on Glen Cove allows for face-to-face conversations to happen organically.
Camp Seymour and "first tries" seem to go together for Marie. After trying out archery for the first time at Camp Seymour, Marie now owns her own bow practices at home.
When talking about camp activities, Maria says, "It empowers you when you build a new skill." This weekend event at Camp Seymour has allowed her to invest in herself, and she believes that this program allows women to try new things, connect with each other, and come back rejuvenated.
