University Y Student Center
Having grown up in a military family, Margie is no stranger to change. The 20-year-old sophomore at UW Tacoma recalls, "I was accustomed to relocation and not really staying in one place for too long." Bouncing in and out of the country and from town to town, she grew to crave a sense of stability and to put down roots in a community she could call home for more than a few months at a time.
So when Margie learned that the University Y Student Center was opening in January of 2015, she was ecstatic. She immediately joined and established a routine for herself. "I can't stay away," she explains enthusiastically. Group Exercise classes were a great segue in getting more comfortable with her fellow Y members. She's finally found the roots she always wanted.
"At the Y, you learn to get comfortable here to get a little crazy," says Margie. Now completing her tenth week of FitPath, she says, "the YMCA has given me the structure I needed and accountability to try harder."
