Bremerton Family YMCA
Marcus' Y story began when he was in fifth grade and went to Camp Seymour with his elementary school. The staff there encouraged him and his classmates to try new things and to step out of their comfort zones. The staff connected with Marcus so much that he still remembers his counselors and camp leader's namesto this day, almost 15 years later.
Several years later, he had the opportunity to go back to Camp Seymour and volunteer with that same school. The staff there encouraged Marcus to start working for the YMCA, sharing it was a great place to work and become a leader.
Soon, he started volunteering, eventually getting hired on as a lifeguard and swim instructor. That was almost 7 years ago, and he has been working for the Y ever since.
The Y has inspired Marcus to be a better person, and has helped him find a passion for helping people.
"I love coming to work every day knowing that he is going to have the opportunity to impact people's lives in a positive way," said Marcus. "I am proud to be a part of an organization that has such an amazing impact on people."
