Madelyn started dancing at the Morgan Family YMCA when she was four years old. She participated in every recital and took every type of dance class offered. When she was 12, she was asked to be part of the Morgan Y Dance Company.
By the time she turned 13, she was helping in dance classes as a teacher's assistant, and it wasn't long before she was teaching her own dance classes.
"Dancing and teaching at the Y has taught me responsibility, time management, and it has given me an abundance of remarkable opportunities," said Madelyn.
Madelyn was able to go on a cultural trip to China through the dance company and performed with a group of girls from the company at "Be the Spark" with Desmond Tutu at the Tacoma Dome in front of thousands of people.
"I have also gained multiple relationships through dance with so many beautiful and marvelous girls, many of whom I believe will be life-long friends of mine," said Madelyn.
Next year, Madelyn plans on attending Western Washington University to study psychology and will remain committed to dancing.
"I am blessed to have been a part of such an amazing program for 14 years," said Madelyn. "The experiences I have had I will remember and cherish my whole life."
