YMCA Camp Seymour

As a camp counselor, you wake all the kids up and they start their day and you do activities with them throughout the whole day, and then they get a little bit of rest time, and then they do more activities in the afternoon. After that, we have dinner and then we have camp fire. It may appear that this job is babysitting kids, but it’s a lot more than that. You’re really impacting the kids. So, everything you do and say and how you act around them, really impacts them and changes who they are.

I’m from Tacoma, Washington and I’ve lived there pretty much my whole life. Giving back to place that gave me a whole lot was why I decided to become a staff member here. But I also met a lot of cool people from all over the world. It’s really a diverse community that comes together to help these kids. And I think it’s so cool to meet new people and you become so close – they become like your second family.
