For Kim Bauer, the bathroom scale and the sight of a camera were invitations to run and hide; she didn't like what she saw in either. "I needed to improve my overall health, and I began to be concerned about my weight," said Kim. "I was not living."
All that changed when an allergy required her to modify her eating habits and take her health more seriously. Eager for support, Kim decided to join the Y. She was nervous to attend her first Boot Camp class but the instructors were so welcoming and encouraging that she soon became a regular in the group. She began to see improvements in her health and in her self-esteem.
When Kim joined the Y, she lost weight and gained fresh joy and energy. Today she sets goals and takes daily steps to meet them. She is making new friends and loving her more active lifestyle.
"The old tapes in my head that used to tell me 'I can't' have been replaced with friendly faces urging me to give it a try," said Kim.
