Kathy Larsen teaches the 5:30am water exercise classes and has developed great relationships with her regular participants. She first discovered water fitness in pursuit of a remedy for her own joint issues. She remembers a statement her friend, a physical therapist, made when recommending water fitness: "You get out of it what you put into it."
Kathy enjoyed the workouts that the water exercise instructors provided. As time went by, she began to co-teach the classes, eventually taking over the morning classes on a regular basis. She has taught this class for about four years now.
Kathy enjoys motivating others toward their fitness goals and and helping them overcome obstacles. She's uniquely qualified for this work, having experienced a number of her own setbacks. Kathy has suffered calf muscle injuries and a pulled hamstring, but she credits her regular water exercise with helping her recover quickly from each of these.
The members of her class also keep her supported. At the end of 2014, Kathy experienced some family struggles that left her unable to teach her classes for a time. While Kathy was out, other instructors stepped up to keep the classes going. During that time, the members of Kathy's class connected with her through email to let her know they were thinking of her. This served as a strong testimony to the truth her friend told her years ago: "You get out of it what you put into it." Kathy put in heart and dedication and discipline, and she's not the only one reaping the rewards. We're so blessed to have her as a member of our team.
