In 2008, Kacey's husband passed away, leaving her with severe grief and depression. A friend and Y employee was committed to helping Kacey, so she started bringing her to the Y.
Her first time stepping into the Y, Kacey weighed 356 pounds, could barely walk, and needed to use the lift to get in and out of the pool. After a year of hard work, Kasey lost 199 pounds.
Kacey's healing journey continued with the Y's Life University classes, participating in Journey to New Beginnings After Loss, Making Change Stick, and, thanks to a scholarship, Financial Peace University after losing her home to black mold.
"The Y has saved my life. It is home, fellowship, relief, centering, and all-in-one," said Kacey. "The community needs everything the Y has to offer."
