At only 34 years old, Juliette was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. Chemotherapy left her weak and anemic, requiring several blood transfusions. After suffering from septic pneumonia, Juliette’s energy and health dropped further, and she felt desperate and anxious.
But Juliette learned that the best way to fight chemo fatigue was to keep active. So she kept her YMCA membership active and tried to get moving. Her success seemed impossible until she learned about LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a cancer survivor support and exercise group.
In just 12 weeks Juliette almost doubled the amount of chair squats and wall pushups she could do, her arm range of motion improved, and her endurance around the track increased significantly. Most importantly, she regained her confidence.
“I still have work to do, but LIVESTRONG has improved my quality of life, and given me the skills I need to keep improving on my own,” said Juliette. “I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to get their life back after cancer.”
