Gordon Family YMCA
Life gives us challenges, but sometimes, those challenges can be opportunities to rise to the occasion, even when we’re not expecting it. On August 25, 2015, Jon suffered a stroke. That December, he had a brain tumor removed. Jon, who had been a member at the Y for many years already, relied on the Y to help him with his recovery. Today, Jon lifts weights 3-5 times a week and exercises on the Jacob ’s Ladder, a machine that improves coordination and mobility.
Through his hard work, Jon has lost 17 pounds. Even more importantly, he adds, “I now have full mobility. My wife, three sons, daughter, son-in-law and grandkids all come to the Y.”
Jon continues to maintain his level of fitness at the Y, through all the trials that he has overcome to make him stronger in the end.
“I attribute my recovery in part to the YMCA,” he says. “Thanks.”
