Joey C.

Haselwood Family YMCA

Joey has been showing the world his strength since he was 18 months old. That's when he fell from a 45-foot balcony, which left much of the left side of his body paralyzed. But he doesn't see his accident as a reason not to work out.

"I like to work out hard," he says. "I lift weights, work on my abs; I like to get ripped," he says with a laugh.

Joey has been a member since July 2011. He says he joined the Y because he was looking to get in shape. He credits Zumba and kickboxing for helping him drop more than 30 pounds.

"I thought (kickboxing) was fun," he laughs. "Castor will have you moving all parts of your body everywhere, and the music is just fun!" he exclaims.

Joey says he likes to go dancing when he's not spending time at the Y. An avid swimmer, and Special Olympian, he says he likes lap swimming and just being in the pool at the Y.

"I just like it here," he says. "There's some nice staff and pretty cool people."
