Jessica joined the Y and was immediately connected with the FitPath program. By the time she graduated the program, she had already lost an impressive 50 pounds.
"I joined the Y because I was sick and tired of always feeling sick and tired," she recalls. "I felt invisible. I was ready for a change."
Jessica says the support she received as a part of FitPath gave her the confidence to come out of her shell and try new things. She quickly found herself in both Zumba and cardio kickboxing classes.
"They were just a great fit," she explains. "I learned that Wendy, the Zumba instructor, had lost over 300 pounds just through diet and exercise, and it gave me hope that I could become healthy, too. I'm not into competitive things, so I had to learn to be competitive with myself," says Jessica.
Jessica?s weight loss serves as testament to her acquisition of this skill: to date she has lost more than 120 pounds. While her goal of completing a triathlon is still a bit daunting, Jessica has proven to herself that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.
