Jayden J.

Bremerton Family YMCA

When Jayden was 6-years-old he was adopted, and his new family wanted to find something that would help him with his special needs. They joined the Y so he could develop his social skills and get acclimated to his new family.

"Jayden has felt so welcome," said Jayden's mom. "The Y has become his second home."

Jayden's mom had concerns about his ability to play team sports but Y staff encouraged Jayden to join. Since Jayden's positive experience in baseball and swimming lessons, Jayden's family made recreation and fitness part of their routine.

"Sometimes life gets in the way of taking care of ourselves, but having programs that Jayden enjoys allows time for me to focus on my own health," said Jayden's mom. "Staff regularly ask how things are going and how they can improve our time at the Y. The warm welcome our family receives is the same for everyone, but this makes Jayden feel that it's his YMCA."
