Ivaline's journey back to health started three years ago while she was taking care of her youngest grandson. With another grandchild on the way, her family issued a challenge she took to heart: they challenged her to do everything within her power to be present when her grandchildren graduate high school and college.
So Ivaline found herself at the Y. She started on a treadmill, which was somewhat daunting because of her atrial fibrillation. Undeterred, she gained some mastery over the machine and graduated to the Healthy Joints class. She kept on moving. Currently in her fourth session of Women on Weights, Ivaline reports, "I am now stronger and healthier than I have been in my entire life."
She credits the class with inspiring her continued success. "Kaila, the instructor, is awesome. She encourages and modifies appropriately. She is always there for us. I have lost weight and gained strength and confidence thanks to the Y."
