Two years ago, Heidi came to the Y bogged down by swelling knees, preoccupied with her sister's illness, and generally disheartened by the rigors of each day. "I really felt beaten down by life," she says.
After an inspirational session of the Y's Journey to Freedom course, Heidi began to see a transformation in both her mind and body. She met new friends and trained her body to a healthy state previously unknown to her.
To satisfy herself spiritually, she began to inquire how she could give back to the Y as thanks for all it had done to help remodel her life. When she learned part of the Y's Annual Campaign helps provide increased access through financial assistance, she knew contributing as a donor and volunteer would give her a sense of fulfillment.
"My favorite thing about the Y is the atmosphere of inclusion," Heidi says. "The Y has created a feeling of community that didn't exist for me before. I (contribute to Annual Campaign) because I want to help make this experience available to everyone!"
