University Y Student Center

The Y values youth development, and through Child Watch children can make friends and learn core values like honesty, responsibility, respect, and caring. One of the University Y Student Center’s frequent Child Watch goers is Harlyn. The friendly four and a half year old and has been coming to the YMCA since she was two and a half! She comes to the Y at least twice a week, and frequently goes to Child Watch with her little brother, Lee.

Harlyn has done more than just play in Child Watch. “[I have] made a lot of friends,” Harlyn said. Her favorite friend is Bram from the Morgan Family YMCA.

Harlyn is looking forward to turning 5, so that she can climb the rock wall. She is considering celebrating the big 5 at the Y’s rock wall. Harlyn sometimes watches climbers on the rock wall in awe from Child Watch, but in half a year she will be one of the climbers that kids will watch in inspiration!

Her adventurous spirit will not only help her to reach the top of the University Y’s 30 foot rock wall, but help her achieve her career goals. “I want to be a police lady,” said Harlyn. The Y looks forward to seeing Harlyn serve the community in the future!
