Bremerton Family YMCA
For years, Sheryl searched for a fun and active summer program for her daughter, Grace. Because of Grace’s special needs, she struggled to find a program that could offer her inclusion with peers her own age. After weeks of being turned away from camps and child care services, Sheryl finally found the right fit for her daughter at the Y.
“Inclusion of our child in activities happened every day,” said Sheryl. “It has been very beneficial for her, both at the YMCA and at home.”
During the nine weeks of summer day camp, Grace earned bracelets for her good behavior, made friends, and even became a mentor for younger campers.
“Grace developed such a wonderful bond with her new YMCA family,” said Sheryl. “As parents, we are finally able to feel confident and at ease knowing that she is in such capable and responsible hands.”
