As someone who has undergone 26 surgeries in her lifetime, fitness and healthy living are hard work for Gail. But beyond the workouts, Gail found purpose and passion at the Y, from socializing, to exercise classes, to volunteering.
“I appreciate the Y for so many reasons,” said Gail.
One of Gail’s surgeries on her back forced her to use a walker. But through exercise and determination, Gail went from her walker to a cane. She went from a “regular” member to a spectacular volunteer and a motivation for all.
Gail gathers inspiration and appreciation from her work as a volunteer with children in Y programs. She also enjoys working with staff that assist her in finding alternative workouts to fit her needs. Without all of this, she wouldn’t have dropped her cholesterol by over 100 points, lost over 40 pounds, or improved her asthma symptoms.
“Health experts keep telling us to keep moving and I firmly believe we should,” said Gail. “My doctor attributes my good health to all of my working out at the Y.”
