Devondryia H.

University Y Student Center

In 2017, while attending Seattle University, Devondryia’s apartment building was sold and she found herself homeless. Between the lack of stable housing and a mental health condition, Devondryia was forced to put off her studies. Through it all, she relied on support from the University Y Student Center, where she started coming for the free community shower program. She found a community at the Y and was able to receive financial assistance to pay for a membership. Staff have even helped her polish her resume. She describes her experience at the Y as transformational in helping her get back on her feet.

“This is my recess,” Devondryia says. “This is a fun place for me to be off the streets.”
