Dee P.

Morgan Family YMCA

Dee had always struggled to keep up with her fitness. She suffered from wrist and back issues and found it difficult to be active with her grandkids. Then she had a brain aneurysm and nearly died.

After surgery for her aneurysm, she joined the Y to try to get healthy, but feared that she would never fully recover. When she began in the SilverSneakers program she was reserved, came to class irregularly, and only lightly engaged in the program.

But as she stayed in the program, she became good friends with other members, started attending regularly and was more motivated in class. She gained confidence as she improved her strength, flexibility, and balance.

She lost weight and improved her cholesterol, and best of all, she can now hang out with her grandchildren and be active with them. Since her aneurysm, Dee has pivoted her life to become a model for senior fitness. She wants to help as many people get healthy as she can.
