Morgan Family YMCA
David Young has been coming to Morgan Family YMCA off and on since 2009. He mostly keeps to himself, slipping upstairs to ride the bike in the Healthy Living Center.
Recently, though, at the encouragement of Health and Well-Being Director Steve Shawcroft, David has broken out of his shell.
Throughout the month of February you have likely seen David riding the Expresso bike in the lobby – a far cry from working out in the hidden room upstairs.
“I heard that (the Expresso bike) raised money for people that needed help to be a member at the Y,” David said. “I love the Y, so I wanted to help everybody.”
As part of the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, Expresso is donating 10 cents per mile ridden in the month of February.
To participate, go to www.Expresso.com/RallyforTheY and sign up. Then make sure and log-in on one of our five Expresso bikes and get to riding – just like David.
So far David has raised $8.52 riding 86 miles for the Annual Campaign, while Morgan Family Y as a whole has raised $416.47 through the Expresso program. These important dollars go toward financial aid for members, our Teen Late Nite program, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Swim for Exceptional Children, sending kids to camp and more.
