It's hard to believe that the Chris who listlessly walked into the Y back in January 2015 is the same guy who placed in the top five percent in a half-marathon 10 months later.
The former offensive lineman for the Simon Fraser University football team hit his fitness low point after suffering an injury that forced him to give up the game he loved. Chris started struggling with his weight, and when he moved back to Tacoma he knew he needed to make a change.
"I have tried other gyms in the past but they never seemed to work for me," said Chris. "The people that work out here at the Y are so nice and everyone that works here is very friendly. The Y really gave me the support I needed to make this happen."
120 pounds lighter, Chris remains committed to his new healthy lifestyle and serves as an inspiration for anyone else struggling to meet their fitness goals.
"If you have a dream go achieve it," said Chris. "It will never be easy but if something means enough to you then do not give up until you make it happen. If I can do it so can you!"
