Charles struggled with confidence and finding his purpose in life, so he decided to attend the YMCA’s Youth Investment Center to make friends and try new things. It wasn’t long that Charles became an inspiring leader. He even participated in a summer internship program where he rallied his peers to do complimentary lawn care for two elderly women.

“I'm grateful for the fact that the Youth Investment Center gave me so many volunteering opportunities,” said Charles.

Charles has been recognized for volunteering over 300 hours during the summer and has developed into a confident young man, now known by the City of Puyallup staff, business owners, and currently employed at the Y as a Summer Day Camp Counselor.

“The Youth Investment Center has really helped me become more respectful, responsible, honest, and caring,” said Charles. “I know those are the core values but I've become really familiar with them, and that’s how the Y has helped me shape my future for the better.”
