Brianna

YMCA Center for Community Impact

A victim of bullying, Brianna found refuge and confidence from her involvement in YMCA programs, such as Ladies First and Sisterhood, offered through the First Creek Eagle Center. A partnership between the YMCA and Tacoma Public Schools, the Eagle Center provides students with services that create a culture of success.

"Inner beauty is as important as outer beauty," said Brianna. "Just because someone bullies you doesn't mean you give up."

With aspirations of becoming a pediatrician, Brianna has set a goal for herself to graduate high school with a GPA of 3.8 or higher.

"I'm going to have to work very hard," said Brianna. "When you hear from speakers at the Y's Sisterhood who have overcome similar things as you and have gone to college, it makes me realize I can do it."
