Lakewood Family YMCA
Ashton first joined the Y when she was in the third grade, participating in the FLY dance company. Her family decided to join the YMCA in hopes to be a part of a community who all had the same goals: living a healthy life style in a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
"Participating in Y sports and dance furthered my interests in school sports," said Ashton. "From the YMCA and the things I learned from the staff members, I was able to build the confidence to participate in school and club sports."
Once she was old enough, Ashton decided to apply for a job at the Y because she knew that the staff members were not only welcoming but also the community provided for a very hands-on atmosphere.
"My Y story began in the third grade and is only expanding as I finish high school and enter college," said Ashton. "The Y has been an amazing place to meet new friends as a member but also build amazing relationships with the people I meet as a staff. The YMCA has been an amazing place for me to grow up and I am very thankful for all it has provided for not only me but those in the community."
