Brook Gullickson 2ELITE TRAINER

After receiving my degree in Sports Medicine and Physical Education, I became certified as an athletic trainer and have worked in the physical therapy/sports medicine field for 17 years. I currently have over 20 years experience. Although there are many duties and skills performed in this profession, exercise instruction has been the most important component of my career. Rehabilitation, basic daily activities, competitive sports and recreation are all guided and improved by exercise. Good overall health and fitness makes every facet of life more enjoyable. Growing up my athletic focus was dancing and swimming in which I competed from age 5 through college. During my collegiate years, I was also in a head-on car accident and had to overcome my own injuries. This has made me see how crucial exercise can be from both ends of the spectrum. Knowing that we all move and function differently and have our own unique history of aches and pains is key to individualizing workouts, as well as teaching proper techniques. Making time for some form of exercise every day can be one of the best decisions anyone can make. If you are just starting an exercise program, continuing a program after major orthopedic surgery, or an experienced exerciser wanting to try something new, I am here to help.

Exercise is beneficial for any age or fitness level however "one size does not fit all". The key is to incorporate what motivates and challenges you while at the same time retaining an element of fun. With this in mind, I take your current needs and abilities and create a comprehensive program around them. Working with populations ranging from seniors to power lifters, I provide guidance, education and motivation to help individuals reach their health and fitness goals.

While I’ve been athletic for a good portion of my life, I’m well acquainted with the struggle of weight loss. I know every excuse in the book – because I made them.  I tried nearly every diet program on the market, and battled with body image.  Through those experiences, I realized that every body is different. There is no one-size-fits-all recipe for success. Long lasting success comes from creating a fun, active, maintainable lifestyle that yields results – whether the goal is fat loss, improved mobility, increased athletic performance or all of the above.  It has to leave you wanting more.

Let me help you achieve a maintainable level of fitness that will enable you move confidently into each day, no matter what life throws at you.  With a special focus on whole body movements, Olympic and Power Lifting techniques, and Interval Cross Training, overall fitness and strength can grow by leaps and bounds.  Whether your goals include improving flexibility, losing body fat, increasing overall athleticism, event specific training, or anything in between, I want to design and coach a program that will get you there. Put me on your team and let’s discover what you’re capable of.

The decision to join the Y and embrace a more active lifestyle is one of the biggest and best choices I've ever made. This community has truly provided a healthy place for me to work on my spirt, mind and body. I started small with small goals, but made the commitment to myself to start on a better and healthier way of life. Over the past five years I have gained the confidence and happiness that I have always longed for but never quite knew how to find. Through weight lifting and hard work I have seen first hand the results of dedication and hard work. I started off doing strictly cardio classes but saw my body truly change after I began lifting weights. I currently teach Women On Weights, participate in our Strongman competition, and love all things sports related. Whether you're just starting out or were born in the weight room, I'd love to help you achieve your goals and be the best version of you.

I learned during my time training with British Special Forces, that in order to establish physical fitness as a lasting part of your lifestyle, the training you do must be enjoyable and it must achieve results. I will design your program around you: your schedule, your fitness level, your goals and what you enjoy. A program that works and leaves you wanting more.

I have been involved in top level sports and fitness since a very early age and have a broad range of fitness and conditioning experience. My aim is to design a program for you that will make you fit for purpose, achieve your goals, and keep you enthusiastic and hungry for more. Those are the ingredients for a lifelong fitness habit. From youth sports to adults, and from competitive athletes to those who just want to be fitter and healthier, I will make your fitness journey fun and successful.
