NEW OBSERVATION POLICY

We are pleased to offer quality dance classes to our members at the Tom Taylor Family YCMA. In order to give our students the best possible learning environment, we ask that parents and family members refrain from being inside the classroom during class. The aim of this policy is to enhance student learning by limiting distractions and creating an environment where students can focus on creativity and learning. There is a Dance Class Viewing Area outside of Room 3 where parents and family members can observe classes and it is reserved for you. In addition, the last day of each session is Parent Observation Day. During this time, you will have the opportunity to come into the classroom and see firsthand what your dancer has been working on.

The running track is adjacent to the Dance Class Viewing Area and is highly utilized by our members. Due to the limited space and safety concerns involving children playing on and near the track, children under the age of 15 are not permitted in the Dance Class Viewing Area. In addition, strollers are not permitted in the viewing area.

There are some safer alternatives for children under the age of 15. They are as follows:

  • Child Watch
  • Family Adventure Zone – Parental supervision required.
  • Youth Center – Ages 8-18. Hours: M-F 3-8, Sat 9-5, Sun 10-5
  • Walking the stroller friendly track

We strive to create a positive and safe environment for our dancers, parents and members at large. Thank you for your cooperation as we do our best to offer a safe Y experience for all.

Sincerely,

Ben Meersman, Arts Director, 253-534-7898
