A big shout out to all our members who helped support our School Supply Drive!
On Friday, October 9, Tacoma Center was able to give all of your donations to the Eagle Center at First Creek Middle School. These supplies will be handed out to their students next month at their Fall Harvest Party.

Our Safety and Risk Manager gets candid about cameras:
For safety purposes, cell phones and cameras are strictly prohibited in our locker rooms and restrooms. Please leave them (and personal conversations) in your purse or bag while using these spaces.
While we enthusiastically applaud your efforts in the weight room and are fully supportive of your need for photo documentation of your exercise success, we kindly request that you resist the urge to take locker room selfies, which may cause people to question your intentions and create an awkward situation for everyone involved.
Thank you for your understanding and for alerting staff if and when you notice violations of this policy.
Thank you to all our members for your patience through these past few months. We have had quite a few renovations take place from the pool to the gym floor and now the Functional Fitness Room.
We are pleased to announce that the room is reopened and ready to be used.
#FPAD It's National Fall Prevention Awareness Day.
Did you know that there were more than 15,000 fall-related hospitalizations last year among adults 65 years old and older, at a cost of more than $1 billion in Washington State?
Studies prove that regular exercise can reduce the risk of falling by as much as 60%. At the Y, we offer a full range of exercise options, including balance classes, for senior citizens. Invite your friends and loved ones to get started today http://ow.ly/SASic
A tip for parents from our Safety and Risk Manager during National Preparedness Month:
Equip your kids with knowledge and confidence. Create kits that include things you might need during an emergency (food, water, contact information, clothes, flashlight, etc.) and place them strategically in your home, vehicle, backpacks, and other frequently accessed locations. Talk with your family about their purpose and role play situations that could require their use.
Our Functional Fitness Room will be unavailable beginning this evening, Wednesday, September 23 at 7pm and will reopen again this Friday, September 25 by 12pm.
We apologize for the inconvenience but appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions contact Chris Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking for a fun and rewarding way to spend your Monday nights?
Every third Monday of the month, we serve dinner to women and children at the YWCA. Thanks to a group of members and volunteers, we were able to graciously serve a warm dinner to 10 women and 7 children. Check out our member Matt Corey in action!

For every perfectly sculpted body you see at the gym, there's someone like Amy courageously braving scrutiny to take control of her health. Read the brave account of her experience. Sometimes we just need to know we're not alone: http://ow.ly/SiGsJ
