Engage in competitive swimming with a goal-oriented emphasis for adults 15+. Swim team participation promotes sportsmanship, self-esteem, self-discipline, self-improvement, and social interaction. This program is free to members.
Chad Hagedorn - Masters Coach, Tacoma Center YMCA
Chad Hagedorn has been a Head Masters Swim Coach for more than five years. He has had a passionate relationship with water all his life and believes swimming is one of the best activities for body, mind and spirit.
Chad encourages a program with a lane for everyone regardless of skill level, including those who don’t know how to swim ... yet! He pushes swimmers to improve and be the best they can be, and is also sensitive to each individual’s needs and feelings.
A recent U.S. Masters Swimming two-time open water national champion and All American, Chad holds credentials including: U.S. Masters Swimming and American Swimming Coaches Association Level 3 Coach Certification, USA Swimming Coach Certification, U.S. Masters Swimming Adult Learn To Swim Instructor Certification, YMCA Rescue Swimmer Certification with CPR and First Aid, Professional Association of Diving Instructors and Divers Institute of Technology Advanced Scuba Certification, Divers Institute of Technology Commercial Diving Certification, and a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in communication, human services and psychology. He is also a board member and coach for the non-profit Ohana Swim Team.
