The Journey to Freedom small groups were created by Scott Reall, a former Senior Wellness Director of a YMCA. Over several years, Scott saw that people were coming to the Y looking for a fitness routine and trying to make physical changes in their lives. However, he realized that no wellness plan in the world would work without addressing spiritual and emotional baggage.
The Journey to Freedom small groups are a place for you to come into a healing community which lays the foundation for successful change in your life in a group of 6-10 people. Participants address challenges related to loneliness, food and body image issues, grief, anxiety, destructive habits and much more.
The YMCA of Piece of Kitsap Counties has served over 1,500 participants in these small groups since 2009 and seen many lives transformed.
Journey to Freedom: Developed for facing life's challenges, this small group led by supportive facilitators serves as a place of hope, healing, and restoration.
Journey to Living with Courage: Move away from a fear-based life to a life grounded in courage and freedom. Participants are supported in a positive and nurturing small group environment.
Journey to a Life of Significance: Discover purpose and develop a more positive self-image through honest dialogue around improving self-esteem and dealing with feelings of worthlessness, disappointment, and brokenness. Participants work towards overcoming negative thought patterns through emotional healing, affirmation, and encouragement.
Journey to a New Beginning After Loss: In a supportive and healing environment, this small group aids those dealing with the pain and disappointment associated with loss of all kinds.
Journey to Healthy Living: Find freedom from food issues, eating disorders, and negative body image. This group provides support to help you achieve peace with your body and lifestyle. Each session includes 30 minutes of instructed moderate physical activity.
Discover financial freedom by learning to manage personal finances, get control of spending, and set financial goals through the support of trained facilitators in a supportive, resourceful setting. Financial Peace University provides the resources and support needed by using acclaimed materials created by Dave Ramsey.
Financial Peace University Helps the Howards Gain Control of Their Finances
On the surface it seemed like Jessica and Ngoma Howard were living the American dream. They were happily married, owned a house and cars, and had two children. In reality the Howard family was feeling the weight of debt from car payments, a mortgage, student loans, and credit cards.
Tired of feeling stressed and hopeless about making payments, Jessica and Ngoma decided to join Financial Peace University, and offering of Life University. Using acclaimed materials created by Dave Ramsey, participants of Financial Peace University learn how to manage personal finances through the support of trained facilitators in a supportive, resourceful setting.
In just three months Jessica and Ngoma paid off $12,000 of debt. They are selling their home and cars so they can buy more affordable options. “We are finally telling our money what to do instead of letting it run us,” said Jessica. “It feels good to gain control.”
This innovative class for adults combines group discussions and pool time designed to address fear of the water. We’ll discuss how your body naturally interacts with water, tools for remaining calm, and floating skills. You’ll be in a supportive environment with others who share and understand your fear.

Positive Discipline is a program based on the work of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs and designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities. Based on the best selling Positive Discipline books by Dr. Jane Nelsen, it teaches important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults (including parents, teachers, childcare providers, youth workers, and others).

Couples (married or not married) gain tools to improve communication, move beyond conflict, understand differences, and experience positive and lasting changes in their relationship.
